In December of 2019, International People-to-People Exchange Ministry of Education, P.R.China and Zhejiang International Studies University signed agreement to co-build Cross-border E-commerce Industry of Institute for International People-to-People Exchange, which is the only one in Zhejiang province.
The vision and mission of the institute is to implement plethora of people-to-people exchange programs and carry out cross-border e-commerce related studies for serving international people-to-people mechanism, high-level education opening to the world and international people-to-people exchange industry development surrounded by ‘One Belt One Road’ cross-border e-commerce industry development. It aims to make the central official documents workable, enrich cross-border e-commerce industry international people-to-people exchange and help the enterprises going board by providing policy consultancy, intellectual support and talent training services. Thus Chinese cross-border e-commerce enterprises would finally get involved in the construction and international development of ‘One Belt One Road’.
The institute has three sub-centers: Cross-border E-commerce Case Studies, County-level Cross-border E-commerce, and Cross-border E-commerce Digital Ecosystem Research.
In recent years, the institute has held academic conferences and training programs such as the "First National Cross-border E-commerce Professional Construction Seminar," "National Cross-border E-commerce Education and E-commerce Development Forum," "National Cross-border E-commerce Teacher Training Class," and the Cross-border E-commerce "2+2" Latin American Student Class, with more than 2,000 participants. The institute has partnered with global cross-border e-commerce platforms such as Alibaba, Amazon, Wish (China), and Rakuten to develop course plans and promote and implement them nationwide. The institute has undertaken and hosted more than 20 provincial, municipal, Yiwu, Pujiang and other vertical provincial-level or government-level cooperation projects at the county level, and written research reports such as "Current Situation and Problems of Cross-border E-commerce Live Streaming", which has received more than 10 department/agency level approvals and applications. The institute has solved industry pain points and difficulties, proposed forward-looking strategies, implemented enterprise transformation measures, organized cross-border e-commerce professional competition teams to participate in 100 or more county-level cross-border live broadcasts, and incubated the cross-border e-commerce transformation of more than 30 enterprises. The institute has participated in government policy formulation meetings, drafted relevant provisions, and provided suggestions. The institute has also won honors for the school and was awarded the 2022 Hangzhou Cross-border E-commerce Talent Cultivation Outstanding Contribution Award.
